Post-Operative Therapy FAQ

Still have a question? Call us and a member of our team will help.

Do you follow my surgeon’s protocol?

Yes. Bring your surgeon’s referral and any rehab instructions to your first visit. We follow their precautions and timelines, keep them updated on your progress, and reach out if we have questions.

When should I start therapy after surgery?

It depends on your surgery. Many patients start within a few days to a few weeks, as directed by their surgeon. Once you know your start date, call us and we will set up your first visit.

Will rehab be painful?

Some discomfort is normal as you get moving again. Your therapist works within your comfort level, explains what you should and should not feel, and adjusts as you go.

How often will I come in, and for how long?

Most patients come in a few times a week at first, then less often as they get stronger. How many weeks you need depends on your surgery and your progress, and we review your plan with you along the way.

Can I do exercises at home between visits?

Yes, and it makes a real difference. Your therapist gives you a home program for each stage of recovery and updates it as you progress.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept most major plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare, and we verify your benefits before your first visit. Call (908) 282-3737 and we will check your coverage.
